Welcome to Sleeptrip.com. The following is a brief help guide to get you started.
Note: If you don't know HTML, don't worry about it!
Just ignore anything that sounds confusing. Sleeptrip is designed so
that anyone can use it, but also so that if you are a computer person
you can design your dreams to look exactly how you want them to.
You can view this guide again at anytime by following the help button.
Sign in: You do not need to sign in to view public dreams and fragments or to read and add interpretations to dreams. However, if you wish to add your own dreams, you must create a user and sign in. Then you will be able to add dreams, edit them, and access your private dreams. Add Dream: Enter your dream's title in the Dream Title box. Enter the text of your dream in the Dream box. If you wish to include HTML tags in your dream (to specify font, for example) you can simply type them in. The default font is Arial and the default alignment is left. Your dream can include images and footnotes, and all dreams can be made public or private. You can also specify the color of the text of your dream and its background color. Adding images to your dream: Sleeptrip.com allows you to add images to your dream text. To add an image, select the "add image" option on the add dream or edit dream page. Type in the location of your image or choose "browse" and select the correct file from your computer. Once you have added an image, it is stored in your files so that if you want to make a different link to it you don't have to upload it again. The image name is used to identify the image in your files. Once the image has been added, linking tags will appear in your dream text to identify it. Local Image: An image can be added as a link that opens in a new window. If you specify that this is a Local Image, the link will exist only for this place in this specific dream. *See note on adding images and footnotes to a dream.* Place the image directly in the dream (linking text is ignored): The image is added directly to the dream text. Position the cursor where you want the image to appear. *See note on adding images and footnotes to a dream.* Global Image: A Global Image automatically creates a link to the image anytime the linking text is used in your dream. So, for example, if you specified that "dog" was a global image, anytime in the future that you wrote "dog", it would link to this image automatically. Look at these two example dreams: dog1 and dog2. "dog" is a global image link to the picture of the dog, but "bone" is only a local image link in the dream titled "dog2". Thus, the word "dog" always links to the picture of the dog, but the word "bone" only links to the picture of the bone in that one instance in the dream called "Dog2". *See note on adding images and footnotes to a dream.* Deleting an Image: If you want to delete a single local image link from a dream, or delete an image that is included in the dream text, go to the Dream Index and select the "edit" option for the dream. Then simply delete the image's linking tags from the dream text. To completely delete an image from your files, so that there it will no longer be saved in your directory and there will no longer be links to it, open the Add Image window and select the image from your list of images. Then click "delete image". If you wish to delete a global image link, click on the "edit global images" button in the Add Image window. Once you delete a global image link, the linking text (e.g., "mom") will no longer link to the image, but the image will remain in your files for future use. *See note on adding images and footnotes to a dream.* Add Footnote: Most dreams are filled with intensely personal references. Footnotes help the reader understand exactly whom and what you are talking about. A Global Footnote creates a link from all instances of the specified text, while a Local Footnote creates a link only from this one instance. See Example. As with images, tags identifying the footnote will appear once you have added it. The footnote name is used to identify the footnote in your files so that you can edit or delete it in the future. For global footnotes, the footnote name is automatically set to be the same as the linking text. To edit your footnotes, click on the "footnote index" link at the bottom of the page. *See note on adding images and footnotes to a dream.* Adding Images and/or Footnotes to your Dream: When
you add an image or footnote to your dream,
Sleeptrip will automatically insert the correct linking text at the
end of your dream text. Now, this is fine if you are inserting your images and
footnotes as you go along. However, if you have already typed your dream text,
or if you are going back to edit a dream, you will have to cut and paste this
linking text to the appropriate place in your dream text. For example, let's say I wanted to
go back and add a footnote to "He smiles" in the following dream:
dog1.
The linking text would be inserted at the end of the dream text.
See example.
So to create the correct link, I would have to select the linking text, " Editing Footnotes: To edit the footnotes for a specific dream,
open up the "Edit dream" window for that particular dream,
then go to the "footnote index".
A list of the footnotes for that dream will appear.
If you want to edit your global footnotes, follow the "Edit global footnotes" link from

then go to the "footnote index". Select the footnote and choose "delete".

"footnote index" page, or the "Edit global footnotes and images"
link from your Dream Index page.

for each of your dreams. Click on a color to select it.
When your colors have been successfully changed you will get a message
saying that "your dream colors have been successfully set", but no
tags will appear in your dream text.
